    General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu wants his colleague on the other side of the political divide to render an unqualified apology for wilfully misinforming Ghanaians.

    To him, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chief Scribe is a disgrace to his party.

    Speaking in an interview on Okay FM’s “Ade Akye Abia” morning show, John Boadu said the leadership of the largest opposition party have subjected themselves to needless public opprobrium.

    He believed they could have done the party a lot of good by agreeing from the very beginning to partake in the Electoral Commission‘s voter registration exercise.

    Landmark Ruling

    The Supreme Court, on Thursday, unanimously dismissed the NDC’s case against the EC to compile a new voters register for the 2020 General Elections

    The 7-member panel presided over by Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah, in its decision held that the EC is an independent body and will only be directed by the court if it acts contrary to law.

    The seven member panel that heard the case included Justices Jones Dotse, Paul Baffoe Bonnie, Sule Gbagegbe, Samuel K. Marful-Sau, Nene Amegatcher, and Professor Ashie Kotey.

    Asiedu Nketia’s Gaffe

    The NDC General Secretary, minutes after the decision expressed satisfaction at the ruling saying the apex court had ruled in the party’s favour by calling for the inclusion of the existing voter ID card as one of the source documents for registration during the upcoming voter’s registration exercise; a relief which the court did not grant.

    “…the court has just delivered the verdict which has granted our request for the inclusion of the existing voter card as breeder document for the compilation of the new voters’ register. We feel vindicated,” he told the media at the forecourt of the Supreme court.

    Lawyer Edward Kofi Osei is under intense pressure by some influential Chiefs and opinion leaders of the Sekyere Kumawu district in the Ashanti region to contest the 2020 general elections as independent parliament candidate in Sekyere Kumawu Constituency.

    About 20 sub-Chiefs among other Assembly members in the Constituency are said to have met the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) United States of America (USA) branch chairman in his private residence at Dadiase while other big chiefs invited him to their palaces to lobby him to consider the responsibility in the interest of Kumawuman.

    The Chiefs say the re-election of the incumbent MP as the NPP’s parliamentary candidate doesn’t represent the larger majority of the constituent but rather few greedy delegates of the ruling party who have sold their conscience for money instead of developmental needs of the constituency.

    The disappointed chiefs have promised to lead a formidable campaign against the elected NPP parliament candidate if the offer is accepted by the die-heart member of the party.

    However, speaking with Angel Ofori Atta aid to Lawyer Edward Kofi Osei said he has rejected the call from the traditional and other interest groups in the constituency for his boss to contest as an independent parliamentary candidate in the constituency.

    “Yes the traditional leaders and the opinion leaders called on lawyer to contest as an independent candidate but he has rejected the call from the constituent. Lawyer as former constituency chairman of the party in the USA wouldn’t do anything that will affect the peace of the constituency. So case close lawyer won’t contest period.’’

    He added, the focus of Lawyer’s campaign team, for now, is to rally behind the parliamentary candidate to encourage the constituent to come out and fully participate in the voter registration exercise which will commence on Tuesday 30th June, 2020.

    “Lawyer has directed me to call all our campaign team members to fully support the constituency executives to bring out all the electorate to register in the voter’s registration exercise. Our cars including our PA vans will be released for the exercise. Lawyer is committed to sponsoring that to ease part of the burden on the party and our parliamentary candidate Hon. Phillip Basowah’’ he disclosed.

    Ghana has recorded 597 new cases of the Coronavirus, an update from the Ghana Health Service has revealed.

    The new figures bring to total a case count of 16,431.

    Recoveries have also multiplied as the new numbers have risen to 12,257.

    The death toll, however, remains the same at 103.

    Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has come at the National Democratic Congress for misinterpreting the Supreme Court’s ruling on the new voters register.

    According to him, the opposition NDC and its General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia could have understood the ruling better if they had critically paid attention to the judgement provided.

    “They are still trying to make a comeback to give us an additional dose of their incompetence. I know they don’t read, but I entreat them to take a look at the data to get better informed on our performance viz-a-viz theirs.

    “They should not only read the data, but they should try to understand it so that, they don’t mislead Ghanaians like their mosquito General tried to do after the verdict of the Supreme Court on Thursday.” He noted.

    The NDC and an independent person were unhappy about the Supreme Court ruling in favour of the Electoral Commission’s decision to compile a new voters register. The apex court ruled to exclude the use of the old voter’s ID for the registration.

    NDC General Secretary Johnson Asiedu Nketia in an interview with the media was confident the court had ruled in the party’s favour. It, however, later turned out to be a misrepresentation of the court’s decision.

    But Dr Bawumia taking a swipe at the opposition said Akufo-Addo-led government had performed much better compared to the NDC.

    Addressing party members at the acclamation ceremony of President Akufo-Addo as the flagbearer of the party, he reiterated that the opposition should read and understand the statistics to avoid misleading the public as General Mosquito did during the week.

    “If they study the data, they will realise that for our first term in office, we have not just performed better, but we have performed overwhelmingly better across board.”

    President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has retained his vice, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as his running mate for the Presidential elections in December.

    In his acceptance speech, Dr Bawumia expressed gratitude to Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP for choosing him again and promised not to disappoint the President and the party.

    Kennedy Agyapong keeps on getting his followers and social media users amazed by his lifestyle as a millionaire and the latest about him is not different.

    The Assin Central MP appeared on a show on Citi TV, where he has spoken about his large family. The politician who made his first million at the age of 36, speaking about his 22 children, revealed that they are all from 12 mothers in total, however, he didn’t arrive at the numbers simply without having to take to time to count.

    “I have 22 kids … I don’t have one wife, I have two wives, others I have babies with them” he said.

    Explaining why he’s fathered this number of children, he said, “My policy is that I am against abortion”.

    The NPP MP went on and said, should he even get drunk and impregnate a prostitute, he’ll gladly accept the child.

    According to the businessman, he has no favourite among his children because nobody knows tomorrow and nobody can be trusted, therefore, he cannot put his hope on any of them.

    During the interview, Kennedy Agyapong was also put on the spot to name all his children and he didn’t fail though he didn’t have easy after mentioning 20 names.
