The Volta River Authority (VRA) has commiserated with the family of its former Chief Executive, Mr. Erasmus Alexander Kobla Kalitsi, who passed away on June 3, 2025, at the age of 95. A high-powered VRA delegation, led by Acting Chief Executive Ing. Edward Ekow Obeng-Kenzo, paid a sympathy visit to the bereaved family at Mr. Kalitsi’s residence in Accra.
Ing. Obeng-Kenzo described Mr. Kalitsi as “a legend whose towering influence on the evolution and growth of the Authority from its inception till date is immeasurable” and expressed his personal condolences and that of the Authority to the family. The VRA delegation assured the family of the Authority’s support to honor the memory of Mr. Kalitsi and give him a befitting farewell in recognition of his dedication and sacrifice to the growth and development of energy generation in the country.
Mr. Kalitsi played a pivotal role in the planning, financing, and implementation of Ghana’s hydroelectric projects, including the Akosombo and Kpong dams. He also oversaw the development of the national transmission system and the interconnection of Ghana’s electrical systems with those of neighboring countries.
