
The Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts on Thursday hosted a landmark visit from the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. Professor Jane Naana Opoku‑Agyemang , the first female Vice President in the nation’s history. The visit marked a significant moment for the sector, underscoring government’s renewed commitment to the creative economy as a driver of national development.

During the engagement, the Vice President reaffirmed government’s dedication to strengthening ministries, departments, and agencies to accelerate economic growth. She emphasized that the creative and cultural industries hold immense potential for job creation, innovation, and youth empowerment.

Professor Opoku‑Agyemang commended the ministry for its ongoing efforts and encouraged agencies to intensify internal revenue generation, noting that a growing economy would help ease resource constraints. She highlighted Ghana’s rich cultural heritage , from historic sites and diverse cuisine to natural landscapes , as assets that must be thoroughly researched, well‑packaged, and strategically promoted to global audiences.
The Vice President also stressed the importance of improved marketing, hospitality training, language proficiency, customer service, and sector‑wide research to enhance visitor experience and strengthen Ghana’s international brand.
In response, sector leadership outlined the ministry’s ongoing initiatives, including the review of the Ghana Culture Policy, reforms at the Bureau of Ghana Languages, updates to the Ghana Tourism Authority’s operational framework, and modernization efforts at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park. These reforms, officials noted, are designed to align the sector with global trends and emerging opportunities.
Reflecting on decades of experience within the creative space, ministry leadership highlighted the transformative role of mentorship and consistent encouragement in nurturing talent. The Vice President was acknowledged as an inspiring figure whose leadership continues to motivate women across various fields.
The ministry reiterated its belief that Ghana’s youthful population ,brimming with creativity and energy , represents a powerful engine for national progress if given the right support.
