Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to regional stability and Pan-African unity during a high-level diplomatic visit to Conakry for the inauguration of General Mamadi Doumbouya as President of the Republic of Guinea. Representing President John Dramani Mahama, the Vice President joined several heads of state and international dignitaries to congratulate the Guinean leader and signal Ghana’s readiness to deepen cooperation in trade, security, and regional integration.

During the mission, Professor Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the importance of the ECOWAS and African Union frameworks in fostering peaceful transitions and stronger bilateral relations between the two West African nations.

A significant highlight of the visit was the Vice President’s tour of the Conakry residence of Ghana’s first president, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who lived in the capital as Co-President under the host of H.E. Ahmed Sékou Touré. Standing at the historic site, the Vice President reflected on the enduring legacy of Dr. Nkrumah and the profound historical bonds forged between Ghana and Guinea through a shared vision of African liberation.

She underscored the necessity of preserving such history to inspire modern leadership in confronting contemporary continental challenges. The visit concluded with a renewed pledge to uphold the Pan-African ideals that remain a cornerstone of Ghana’s foreign policy and its ongoing engagement with regional partners.
