Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has praised Holy Child School in Cape Coast for its long-standing tradition of discipline and integrity during the school’s 80th Anniversary and Speech and Prize Giving Day. Speaking at the event, which featured an impressive student parade, the Vice President noted that the institution has successfully nurtured generations of women who have served Ghana with distinction across various sectors.

In her address, Professor Opoku-Agyemang reaffirmed the government’s commitment to empowering girls through education, stating that national development and strong tertiary institutions rely on a solid foundation of quality basic and secondary schooling. She emphasized that preparing young women for the digital age through investments in critical thinking and digital literacy remains a strategic priority for the current administration.

The Vice President encouraged the students to uphold the legacy of the women before them by using their intellect and leadership to shape society, noting that the nation’s future will increasingly depend on their judgment and contributions. She also expressed gratitude to the parents and staff for their roles in fostering a confident student body and commended the 2001 Year Group of alumnae for their contribution to the school’s infrastructure through the provision of potable water.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang concluded by urging the school to continue deepening its legacy of producing women who contribute to progress both in Ghana and on the international stage.
