The United States Marshals Service has released a detailed, step‑by‑step account of the arrest and detention of former MASLOC Chief Executive Officer, Sedina Tamakloe‑Attionu, shedding new light on the international operation that led to her capture. The disclosure follows a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by Ghanaian lawyer William Nyarko, prompting U.S. authorities to make the official report public.

Tamakloe‑Attionu, who once headed the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), fled to the United States after a Ghanaian High Court convicted her in April 2024. She was handed a 10‑year prison sentence for causing financial loss to the state, theft, conspiracy to steal, money laundering, and violations of the Public Procurement Act—offenses tied to millions of cedis in misappropriated public funds.

Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Smith, confirmed on January 15, 2026, that she had been arrested and was being held at the Henderson Detention Center in Nevada. At the time, the Ambassador did not provide further details. The newly released U.S. Marshals report now fills in the gaps.

According to the official account, a U.S. District Court in Nevada issued a warrant for her arrest on December 12, 2025, formally designating her a fugitive wanted for extradition to Ghana. A Deputy U.S. Marshal was immediately assigned to the case.

On January 6, 2026, the Nevada Violent Offenders Task Force (NVOTF) located her residence. Surveillance officers observed her briefly opening and closing her front door around 12:15 p.m. before retreating inside. At approximately 3:05 p.m., the task force moved in to execute the arrest warrant. After announcing their presence, officers made contact with Tamakloe‑Attionu at the door, restrained her, and conducted a search of the premises.

She was transported to the Federal Courthouse in Las Vegas for initial processing before being transferred to the Henderson Detention Center, a facility contracted by the U.S. Marshals Service, where she spent the night.

The following morning, January 7, 2026, Henderson Police escorted her back to the Federal Courthouse for formal booking into U.S. Marshals custody, marking the beginning of her extradition proceedings.

The release of the detailed arrest narrative provides the clearest picture yet of how U.S. authorities tracked, apprehended, and detained the former MASLOC boss, bringing her one step closer to facing the full weight of her conviction back in Ghana.
