The Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to concrete investment outcomes, stating that the country has moved beyond preliminary discussions into an era of action-oriented cooperation.
Speaking on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, during a meeting in Accra with a delegation of Chinese investors led by Ms. Hua Yan, the Minister emphasized that Ghana’s development strategy now prioritizes industrial value addition and seamless manufacturing. The engagement, which follows high-level bilateral interactions such as the China-Africa Summit, aimed to deepen economic ties between the two nations through practical partnerships in trade, agribusiness, and industrial manufacturing.
To facilitate these investments, Mrs. Ofosu-Adjare highlighted the creation of a coordinated support system involving key state agencies and private sector bodies, including the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), the Ghana Free Zones Authority, and the Food and Drugs Authority. These institutions are tasked with providing a one-stop shop for regulatory compliance, company registration, and market access to ensure a smooth transition for foreign businesses.
The Minister particularly encouraged the formation of joint ventures with local Ghanaian businesses, noting that such collaborations foster trust, provide better insight into the local business environment, and ensure long-term sustainability within a protected legal framework.
Ms. Hua Yan, representing the Chinese delegation, expressed strong confidence in Ghana’s economic vitality and potential, noting that her organization, China Trading Magazine, has a long history of facilitating successful business engagements across the continent. She stated that her team, composed of investors from various industries, is eager to move from dialogue to tangible cooperation and identify immediate areas for local investment.
The meeting concluded with technical presentations from various state agencies regarding investment incentives and financing mechanisms, as both sides expressed optimism about achieving mutually beneficial economic growth through sustained engagement and clear next steps.
