TORONTO RALLIES TO WELCOME GHANAIAN VICE PRESIDENT, ROYALTY, AND BLACK STARS IN HISTORIC VISIT

The Ghanaian community in the Greater Toronto Area is gearing up for a historic day of welcoming ceremonies as chiefs, queens, national leaders, and the Black Stars of Ghana arrive ahead of the 2026 World Cup game against Panama. A coordinated transportation plan has been announced to ensure smooth movement of community members to the various reception points.

Organizers have confirmed that transportation will begin from Apostle Continuation Church International, 10 Belfield Road, Etobicoke, where two buses from the Church of Pentecost Canada will be stationed. Community members are encouraged to arrive by 2:00 p.m. to board the buses for the first leg of the day’s events.

Welcoming Ceremonies and Schedule

  • 3:00 p.m. — Chiefs, Queens, and Community Leaders
    Buses will depart Belfield Road at 2:00 p.m. sharp for the airport welcoming ceremony honoring traditional leaders and dignitaries arriving in Toronto.
  • 6:00 p.m. — Black Stars Reception at Delta Hotel
    After the airport ceremonies, the buses will continue downtown to the official team base, the Delta Hotel, 75 Lower Simcoe Street, where the community will meet the Ghana Black Stars ahead of their World Cup opener.

Arrival Details for Dignitaries and Team

  • Vice President of Ghana
    Arrival: 12:38 p.m., Terminal 3, Pearson Airport.
    A reception team is already in place.
  • Otumfuo’s Delegation
    Arrival: 3:00 p.m. at 6120 Midfield Road, Mississauga (Skyservices).
    A reception will be held on the 6120 lawn, followed by another gathering at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel, 100 Front Street.Community members may proceed to either location.
  • Ghana Black Stars
    Expected arrival: Around 4:00 p.m.
    Official reception at the Delta Hotel expected around 5:00 p.m.
