The launch of the 2026 Convention of the Council of Ewe Associations of North America (CEANA) drew traditional leaders, dignitaries, diaspora representatives, and community stakeholders to the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) in Ho, where Togbe Kodi Adiko VI, Paramount Chief of the Tanyigbe Traditional area, joined participants from the United States and Canada for a ceremony rich in culture, purpose, and forward-looking vision. The convention itself is scheduled to take place in Washington, D.C., from September 3–7, 2026, under the theme “Preserving Culture, Inspiring Generations.”
In his remarks, Togbe Kodi Adiko VI commended CEANA for a successful launch and for selecting a theme that speaks directly to the heart of Ewe identity and continuity. He emphasized that communities that honor and preserve their culture lay a strong foundation for future generations, noting that cultural pride remains a powerful anchor for unity and development.
Togbe also applauded CEANA’s initiative to establish a Cancer Research Centre at UHAS, describing the project as both visionary and impactful. He highlighted its potential to advance healthcare delivery in the Volta Region and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s broader health sector. Such an investment, he noted, reflects CEANA’s longstanding commitment to development and its deep connection to the homeland.
As the diaspora prepares for the 2026 gathering in Maryland, Togbe Kodi Adiko VI extended his best wishes to CEANA for a successful convention. He underscored the importance of strengthening ties between home and abroad, affirming that collaboration between the diaspora and local communities remains essential for cultural preservation, development, and shared progress.
