A high-powered delegation of Chinese investors, led by His Royal Majesty Togbe Afede XIV, has paid a strategic working visit to the proposed Keta Harbour enclave to explore large-scale industrial investment opportunities, including the establishment of an ultramodern oil refinery in the municipality.

The visit marks one of the most significant steps yet toward unlocking the Volta Region’s long-envisioned industrial corridor. The refinery project, currently under feasibility assessment, has the potential to reshape the region’s economic architecture, stimulate job creation, and position Keta as a competitive industrial hub within the West African subregion.

The delegation was warmly received by the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, and the Member of Parliament for Keta, Hon. Dzudzorli Kwame Gakpey, who both described the visit as a major vote of confidence in the area’s investment potential.

Togbe Afede, speaking during the engagement, reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to collaborative, people-centered development. He underscored the importance of unity, shared vision, and collective responsibility in driving transformational progress. According to him, strategic partnerships of this nature are essential for accelerating industrial growth, empowering communities, and securing a dignified and prosperous future for the Volta Region.

He emphasized that the Keta project aligns with broader national aspirations for economic diversification and industrial excellence.
Also addressing the gathering, Togbi Tenge Dzokoto Gligui VII encouraged the youth of Keta and its surrounding communities to prepare themselves for the emerging opportunities by acquiring relevant skills and education. He stressed that the success of such major investments depends not only on infrastructure but also on a skilled local workforce ready to take advantage of new economic openings.
The visit concluded with a renewed sense of optimism among traditional leaders, government officials, and community members, who view the refinery proposal as a potential catalyst for long-term development and regional competitiveness.
