Sunyani Senior High School (SHS) has been named the champion of the 2025 National Public Speaking Competition. The prestigious event was hosted in the Parliament of Ghana and centered its discourse on the critical theme, “Sexual and Reproductive Health of the Adolescent Child.” The competition served as an important platform for young voices to articulate solutions and perspectives on a key societal and health issue facing the youth today.
The competition saw participation from six notable senior high schools across the country. Competing against the eventual winners were students from Accra Academy, Osei-Tutu Senior High School, Swedru Senior High, Bechem Presbyterian Senior High School, and Awaso Stem Senior High School. The judges panel highly praised the finalists for their strong command of the technical topics, coupled with a clear and articulate delivery, indicating a significant investment in preparation by the participating schools.
Organizers noted that the high quality of the presentations signaled a growing and encouraging interest in public speaking among high school students. They further emphasized that beyond the competition itself, the central goal was to highlight and address existing gaps in adolescent sexual and reproductive health. They stressed the importance of taking necessary actions to ensure positive outcomes for the adolescent child population across Ghana.
