The Kotokuraba Police Station has taken six juvenile offenders into custody following a violent attack on a final-year student of Adisadel College at Pedu Junction in Cape Coast.
The suspects, all students of Aggrey Memorial Senior High School, were handed over to the police by their school authorities on the evening of February 20, 2026, after they allegedly assaulted Rexford Owusu-Ansah earlier that afternoon. Preliminary police investigations indicate that the incident occurred on the final day of the inter-colleges sports festival held at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The victim was reportedly leaving the stadium with two companions when they were confronted by the suspects, who questioned their affiliation with Adisadel College before launching a targeted attack. While his friends managed to flee the scene, Owusu-Ansah was cornered, kicked to the ground, and beaten severely.
During the assault, the suspects allegedly robbed the victim of an iPhone 17 Pro Max, a pair of shoes, and approximately GH₵ 1,400 in cash.
The victim was initially treated at the stadium clinic before being referred to the Cape Coast Regional Hospital for specialized care, from which he was discharged on February 22. A police medical report endorsed by attending physicians revealed that the victim suffered a fractured orbital bone in his right eye, which has resulted in his inability to open the eye and concerns regarding the stability of the eyeball.
The two friends who escaped the encounter have confirmed to the police that they are able to positively identify the attackers. The Central Regional Police Command, represented by ASP Patri Bentum, has issued a statement strongly condemning the act of violence and assuring the public that the juvenile offenders will face the full rigors of the law as investigations continue.
