President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Lordina Mahama spent the Christmas holidays at the Crown Forest Resort in Gomoa Techiam, a visit that has resulted in significant development commitments for the Central Region.
The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, hosted the First Family at the eco-tourism destination and confirmed that the President used the occasion to outline a transformative agenda for the constituency. Central to these promises is the rehabilitation of the Winneba–Swedru Road and the construction of new road networks across Gomoa Central to enhance connectivity and stimulate local economic activity.
A major highlight of the President’s commitment is his pledge to personally attend the sod-cutting ceremony for the Gomoa Central Special Economic Zone. This project is a cornerstone of the government’s 24-Hour Economy Programme and is projected to drive continuous industrial production, attract substantial investment, and create approximately 300,000 sustainable jobs over the coming years. Proponents of the plan suggest it represents a modern realization of Ghana’s industrialization dreams, aligning historic national goals with contemporary economic strategies.
In addition to the industrial zone, President Mahama is scheduled to commission the Ahmadiyya Poultry Project at Gomoa Pomadze on the same day. The project is an automated, modern livestock facility designed to significantly scale up domestic meat production. By leveraging advanced technology, the farm aims to reduce Ghana’s heavy reliance on meat imports and has the potential to become one of the largest poultry operations in the West African sub-region.
The Gomoa Central MP characterized the President’s visit and subsequent assurances as a shift from campaign promises to tangible action. He noted that the integration of the Special Economic Zone and the poultry project signals that Gomoa Central is officially open for business under a national “resetting” agenda.
As the community prepares for these upcoming milestones, the focus remains on the rapid execution of these projects to ensure that the vision of a 24-hour industrial economy begins to take shape for the benefit of the local workforce and the broader Ghanaian economy.
