President John Dramani Mahama has officially constituted the Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy (PAGE), a high-level body designed to restore macroeconomic stability and spearhead Ghana’s “Reset Agenda.” The establishment of the group underscores the government’s commitment to evidence-based decision-making and strategic policy coordination to address current economic challenges. Chaired by the President himself, PAGE is mandated to provide independent, non-partisan counsel on critical issues including fiscal consolidation, debt sustainability, and the synchronization of fiscal and monetary policies.

The group’s strategic focus is heavily anchored on the implementation of the 24-Hour Economy and the Accelerated Export Development Programme. By drawing on a broad spectrum of expertise, the administration aims to drive industrial development, enhance national competitiveness, and foster a private sector capable of sustained, job-rich growth. Beyond domestic policy, the group will provide expert input for Ghana’s high-level negotiations with international financial institutions and bilateral development partners, ensuring the nation’s interests are robustly represented on the global stage.

The membership of PAGE comprises a distinguished assembly of experts from academia, the private sector, and public service. Joining the President and Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang are veteran economists and private sector leaders including Mr. Ishmael Yamson, Mr. Kwame Pianim, and Sir Samuel Esson Jonah. The group also features specialized expertise from former Bank of Ghana Governors Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and Dr. Henry A. Kofi Wampah, alongside Ghana Stock Exchange CEO Ms. Abena Amoah and infrastructure specialist Mr. Ato Brown. Academic rigor is provided by Prof. Priscilla Twumasi Baffour and Prof. Patience Aseweh Abor, ensuring a balanced approach to the nation’s economic structural transformation.
