President John Dramani Mahama has convened a strategic Presidential Dialogue with Ghana’s private sector, calling for a transformative alliance to accelerate the nation’s economic growth and regional standing.
During the high-level engagement, the President underscored his vision for the country to become the primary production hub of West Africa, urging domestic businesses to capitalize on Ghana’s strategic role as the host of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat.
He emphasized that by leveraging this unique position, the private sector can lead an aggressive expansion in trade, industrialization, and regional competitiveness that will define Ghana’s future economic trajectory.
Beyond industrial growth, President Mahama addressed the critical need for structured and sustainable investment in the nation’s sporting sector. He argued that sporting excellence is never accidental but is the result of deliberate and consistent funding systems, inviting corporate Ghana to move beyond a “charity” mindset toward sports.
The President formally encouraged the private sector to partner with the government through the Ghana Sports Fund, framing such contributions as a vital investment in national development. By linking corporate support to a formalized funding framework, the President aims to build a more resilient sports infrastructure while simultaneously positioning Ghana as a competitive industrial powerhouse on the continent.
