President John Dramani Mahama officially signed the 24-Hour Economy Authority Bill, 2025, into law on Thursday during a brief ceremony held prior to the 13th cabinet meeting. Speaking after the assent, the President described the legislation as a cornerstone of the government’s flagship strategy for national economic transformation, noting that the Ghanaian public has been eagerly awaiting this legal milestone.

President Mahama explained that while the legislative process required extensive due diligence to ensure the policy initiative was granted full legal effect, the focus must now shift immediately from strategic planning to active implementation. He highlighted that the domestic business sector, along with both local and foreign investors, is ready to engage with the new framework to expand productivity.

According to the President, the law will unlock a specific package of incentives designed to encourage private sector investment, boost national output, and significantly scale up employment opportunities for the youth. The newly signed Act establishes the 24-Hour Economy Authority, which will function as the central coordinating body responsible for overseeing the policy.

This Authority is mandated to align the efforts of the public and private sectors while addressing the critical infrastructure and regulatory requirements necessary to sustain a round-the-clock economy.
