President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang held a non-denominational thanksgiving service today, Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the Jubilee House to commemorate their first year in office. The event served as an official occasion to reflect on a year characterized by significant policy implementation and to renew the executive’s commitment to the Ghanaian people.

During the ceremony, both Christian and Muslim prayers were offered, symbolizing national unity and seeking continued divine guidance for the leadership as they navigate the country’s economic and social challenges.

The service provided a platform for the Vice President to highlight the administration’s focus on inclusive national development. She stated that the government remains dedicated to ensuring that state interventions benefit all citizens rather than a select few, emphasizing that the progress made over the past twelve months is a result of hard work and public trust.

The inclusion of diverse religious leaders in the program underscored the administration’s call for collective effort and social cohesion in the pursuit of a fairer and more prosperous future.
In her remarks, Professor Opoku-Agyemang expressed sincere gratitude to the people of Ghana for their support and commitment since the administration was sworn into office. She noted that while the first year has seen notable progress, the government views the anniversary as a moment to strengthen its resolve to deliver on its promises. The event concluded with a renewed call for all Ghanaians to work together toward the shared goals of national stability and development as the government enters its second year of service.
