The Accra Regional Police Command has taken two women into custody following the alleged assault of a 12-year-old girl in the La Roman JHS area on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The suspects, identified as 22-year-old Precious Giftan Mesopeh and 25-year-old Princess Giftan Mesopeh, were arrested on Wednesday after the victim’s mother reported the incident to the authorities.
According to the police, the victim was brought to the station with visible marks of assault, prompting officials to issue a medical report form for a formal examination.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the confrontation began earlier that day after the victim had an altercation with a seven-year-old boy related to the suspects. In response, the women allegedly went to the victim’s house, took her to their residence, and physically assaulted her. While two sisters are currently in custody, police are still searching for a third suspect, 49-year-old Priscilla Novishie Wornyo, a fashion designer and mother of the arrested duo, who is reported to have traveled to the Volta Region.
The two suspects have been formally charged and are scheduled to appear before a court today, Monday, January 5, 2026. In a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, Superintendent Juliana Obeng, the police cautioned the public against using violence to resolve disputes, particularly those involving minors.
The Command urged parents and guardians to utilize lawful channels for addressing grievances and emphasized the importance of protecting the rights and welfare of children at all times.
