The Ghana Police Service has apprehended a man seen in a widely circulated social media video physically assaulting a woman. The suspect, identified as Christford Affadu Danful, also known by the alias Ekow Black, was taken into custody on Thursday, January 15, 2026. The arrest was the result of an intelligence-led operation conducted by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Cyber Vetting Team, which tracked the suspect following the public outcry generated by the footage.
Initial investigations conducted by the Criminal Investigation Department revealed that the suspect and the victim had previously lived together. According to police reports, the two had a history of domestic disagreements that reportedly escalated into verbal confrontations and physical violence. Authorities are currently processing the details of the incident to build a formal case against the suspect.
Mr. Danful remains in lawful custody and is scheduled to be arraigned before a court to face charges in accordance with the law. In a statement addressing the incident, the Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to the protection of lives and the upholding of the law, emphasizing that all acts of violence will be dealt with decisively to ensure public safety and justice for victims.
