Outgoing Chinese Ambassador Bids Farewell to Interior Minister Following Enhanced Bilateral Ties

The outgoing Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Ghana, His Excellency Tong Defa, paid a farewell courtesy call on the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, in Accra to mark the conclusion of his diplomatic mission.

During the meeting held at the Ministry, both officials reflected on the robust and longstanding bilateral relationship between the two nations, highlighting the Ambassador’s role in strengthening cooperation across security, infrastructure, and economic sectors.

Alhaji Muntaka commended Ambassador Tong for his dedicated service in advancing the Ghana-China friendship and expressed the government’s best wishes for his future assignments. In his remarks, Ambassador Tong expressed gratitude to the Ghanaian government and its people for their hospitality and support throughout his tenure. He noted that Ghana remains a primary partner for China in Africa, pointing to flourishing trade and the historic success of President Mahama’s 2025 state visit to China as evidence of the deepening diplomatic bond between the two countries.
