Newly elected Ghana National Council,GNC, President-elect , Effah Ameyaw, joined by Vice President-Elect Caresse Ethel Adongo, addressed a jubilant crowd on November 2, 2025, with a message rooted not in victory, but in unity.
“Thank you to everybody who worked hard for this campaign,” he began, his voice carrying both gratitude and resolve. “To our volunteers, families, friends, and all who believed in this vision across Illinois, your faith made this moment possible.”
A Campaign Rooted in Community
Mr. Ameyaw’s remarks were a reflection of the values that defined his candidacy: humility, unity, and service. He made clear that the campaign was never about individual ambition, but about collective purpose. “This was about being one family,” he said. “And when we come together, there is nothing we cannot do.”
His words struck a chord with many in the Ghanaian diaspora who have long yearned for a Council that not only represents them but also reflects their shared aspirations. He pledged to build a Council that listens, includes, and uplifts; one that draws strength from its diversity and dignity from its unity.
A Salute to His Opponent and a Pledge to Collaborate
In a gesture of statesmanship, Ameyaw praised his opponent, Dr. Eunice Cromwell, for running a campaign marked by integrity and civility. “Dr. Cromwell led a campaign free of insults and full of clarity,” he noted. “That is a legacy we must honor.”
He went further, extending an open hand and a clear intention: “We must work together, with Dr. Cromwell and with all who care about this community, to strengthen the bonds that hold us together.”
Looking Ahead with Purpose
As the Council prepares for a new chapter, President-Elect Ameyaw’s message was unmistakable: the work begins now. His administration, he promised, will be one of inclusion, collaboration, and relentless focus on the well-being of the Ghanaian community in metropolitan Chicago.
“There is no ‘them’ and ‘us’—only ‘we,’” he said in closing. “And together, we will build something worthy of our heritage and our hopes.”
With that, a new era begins, not with division, but with a call to unity, echoing through the hall and into the hearts of all.
