The Member of Parliament for North Tongu has officially broken ground on a massive infrastructure initiative valued at GHS107 million, marking the largest educational intervention in the constituency’s history.
The project involves the simultaneous construction of 15 mega-projects aimed at upgrading all five Senior High Schools in the district and replacing basic schools lost to recent environmental disasters.

Under the expansion, Mepe St. Kizito, Battor Senior High, Aveyime Battor Secondary Technical, Dorfor Senior High, and Volo Senior High will receive 2,500-capacity dining hall complexes along with new male and female dormitories.
A significant portion of the funding is also dedicated to the second phase of the Volo E-Block, which will facilitate its transition into a full boarding institution.
Additionally, new basic schools will be established across all traditional areas, with a specific focus on the Mepe community to replace educational facilities destroyed during the Akosombo Dam spillage.
Construction is scheduled to begin immediately following the finalization of competitive procurement processes. During the sod-cutting ceremony, the MP expressed gratitude to President John Mahama, the Minister of Education, and the GETFund Administrator for their support. The event was attended by the Volta Regional Minister and local traditional leaders, underscoring a collective commitment to empowering the next generation through enhanced academic infrastructure.
