In a stirring tribute to three decades of professional excellence, community service, and enduring camaraderie, the Alumni of the Nurses and Midwives Training College (NMTC), Korle Bu, gathered on Thursday, September 11, 2025, for a landmark 30th anniversary celebration. Held at the Alumni Hall on the historic Korle Bu campus, the event drew past and present students, hospital department representatives, and distinguished guests from across Ghana’s healthcare landscape.

Themed “30 Years of Alumni Achievements: Impacting, Reconnecting & Nurturing the Course of Nursing and Midwifery,” the celebration was not merely a reunion, it was a reaffirmation of purpose. From its humble beginnings as Ghana’s premier nursing college, NMTC Korle Bu has produced generations of healthcare professionals who continue to shape the nation’s medical frontlines with skill, compassion, and leadership.
The anniversary festivities began weeks earlier with a series of community-centered events, including a medical outreach at Accra’s Tuesday Market. Beneficiaries of the free health screenings expressed heartfelt gratitude to the alumni, with one elderly woman remarking, “I haven’t had my blood pressure checked in years. Today, I feel seen and cared for.” Another young mother shared, “They gave me advice on nutrition and even checked my baby’s vitals. God bless them.”
The main celebration on September 11 featured a Career Pathway Forum, and a call to action for the alumni to support the next generation of nurses. President of the Alumni Association, Mrs. Marian Pimpong, delivered an emotional address, thanking members for their generosity and urging continued investment in the college’s future. “We are not just celebrating our past,” she said. “We are building a legacy of excellence for those who come after us.”
Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Mrs. Rose M.A. Odai, echoed the sentiment, commending alumni for their unwavering support. “Your donations, your presence, your prayers, they mean everything. You’ve shown that nursing is not just a profession, but a lifelong bond.”
A key highlight of the anniversary was the fundraising initiative to provide tablets for current students, enhancing digital access and modern learning. Contributions poured in from alumni chapters and individuals, reflecting deep commitment to educational equity.
