Zion College of West Africa burst into life at dawn as the 89th Annual Inter‑House Cross Country Competition unfolded with all the color, rivalry, and spirited energy that have defined this tradition for generations. Though individual results are still being compiled, the house‑level standings delivered enough excitement to keep the campus buzzing long after the final runner crossed the finish line.

Nkrumah House and Akpalu House emerged as the standout performers of the day, each claiming dominance in one division and igniting a fresh wave of friendly rivalry. In the girls’ race, Nkrumah House (House 4) delivered a commanding performance to secure first place, followed by Akpalu House (House 3) in second, Kotoka House (House 2) in third, and Sri House (House 1) in fourth.

The boys’ division flipped the script, with Akpalu House surging to first place, Nkrumah House taking second, Kotoka House finishing third, and Sri House once again placing fourth.
But beyond the rankings, the morning belonged to the unmistakable culture of Zion College, the jama, the chants, the drums, the bragging rights, and the unfiltered house pride. Supporters lined the routes with rhythmic claps, improvised percussion, and call‑and‑response songs that turned the competition into a festival of sound. Every house fought not only on the track but also in the stands, where vocal supremacy was just as fiercely contested as the race itself.
By the end of the event, the bragging rights were clear: Nkrumah House claimed the crown in the girls’ division, while Akpalu House secured glory in the boys’ race. The friendly rivalry between the two houses has now been reignited, and the echoes of victory chants will undoubtedly ripple across campus in the days ahead.
The 89th edition of the Zion College cross country once again reaffirmed the school’s enduring spirit-competitive, united, and proudly steeped in tradition.
