The Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, James Gyakye Quayson, officially commissioned a new Passport Application Centre in Techiman, Bono East Region, on Tuesday, December 30, 2025. The initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to decentralize passport services and improve accessibility for citizens throughout the country.
During the ceremony, the Deputy Minister emphasized the government’s dedication to providing efficient, transparent, and citizen-focused public services. He outlined several ongoing reforms within the Ministry intended to streamline passport administration, eliminate exploitation by unauthorized intermediaries, and restore public trust in the system. To mark the commencement of operations, the Deputy Minister personally presented passports to eight residents who had successfully completed their applications at the new facility.
Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister, noted that the establishment of the centre demonstrates the President’s commitment to bringing essential state services closer to the local population. This sentiment was echoed by the chairperson of the event, Nana Boakye Ameyaw Pentenprem II, the Nifahene of Techiman, who observed that the presence of the office would significantly reduce the travel costs and logistical burdens previously faced by residents of the region.
Representing the Bono East Parliamentary Caucus, the Member of Parliament for Sene East, Dominic Napare, praised the government for promoting equity in the distribution of public services. The event was attended by a variety of high-ranking officials, including District Chief Executives, regional directors, heads of security agencies, and traditional and religious leaders.
