The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a formal travel advisory to Ghanaian nationals and prospective Umrah pilgrims following a rapidly evolving security situation in parts of the Middle East.

In a statement released in Accra on March 2, 2026, the Ministry cautioned that current travel arrangements for the pilgrimage to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia may be significantly affected by the regional instability.
Highlighting the safety and well-being of citizens as the government’s primary concern, officials have advised those still in Ghana to temporarily suspend their travel plans until the security environment stabilizes.
For Ghanaian pilgrims who have already commenced their journey and are currently within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Ministry has urged calm and strict adherence to all directives issued by Saudi local authorities.
These individuals are further encouraged to maintain consistent communication with their respective travel agents, the Ghanaian Embassy in Riyadh, and the Consulate General in Jeddah to ensure their safety.
The advisory emphasizes that the government is monitoring the situation closely and will provide further updates as the regional context develops. Prospective pilgrims and any nationals requiring emergency consular assistance or additional information have been directed to contact the Ministry’s diplomatic missions for immediate support.
