Ministry of Education Inaugurates Audit Committee

The Ministry of Education has inaugurated a five-member Audit Committee to strengthen transparency, accountability, and sound financial management within the sector. The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abass Apaak, delivered remarks on behalf of the Minister, describing the inauguration as a key step in reinforcing good governance. He noted that the reconstitution of the Committee is in line with Section 86(1) of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921).

Dr. Apaak reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to the prudent use of public resources and expressed confidence that the Committee’s independent oversight will strengthen internal controls, risk management, and compliance with audit recommendations. The Deputy Director-General of the Internal Audit Agency administered the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy to the members.

Following the swearing-in, the Committee selected a Chairperson, who assured management of the Committee’s readiness to work collaboratively to improve systems and enhance financial discipline within the Ministry.

Management pledged its full support to enable the Committee effectively discharge its statutory responsibilities in line with the Public Financial Management Act.
