The Judge-Advocate of Ghana’s Defence Ministry, Brigadier General Benjamin Amoah-Boateng, officially swore in the Ministry’s Advisory Board during a ceremony at the Addo Kuffour Conference Hall on Monday, December 29, 2025. Established under Section 39 of the Civil Service Act of 1993, the board is designed to facilitate consistent engagement between the Ministry and its service users while providing critical counsel on policy adjustments, planning objectives, and operational strategies.
Seven members were present for the inauguration, including Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, who serves as the Minister of Finance and stand-in Defence Minister, Deputy Defence Minister Ernest Brogya Genfi, and Chief Director Emmanuel Kartey. Other members sworn in during the proceedings included Robert Gyang representing the Ghana Institute of Project Management Professionals, Christian Bankas from the Defence Food and Supply Association, Surveyor Beatrice Akpene Kom of the Ghana Institute of Surveyors, and the board’s secretary, Monica Deborah Tandoh. Several officials were absent from the ceremony, including Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Attorney General Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, and Finance Ministry Chief Director Patrick Nomo.
Following the ceremony, Dr. Forson announced that the board is scheduled to convene its maiden meeting in the second week of January 2026. This initial session will focus on deliberating urgent issues currently facing the Ministry. As part of its mandate, the board will provide strategic advice to the Minister, foster collaboration among various stakeholders, and offer expert guidance to ensure the Ministry effectively fulfills its national security responsibilities.
