ACCRA, GHANA — Access to life‑changing medical care is expanding across the Greater Accra Region as Mercy Ships, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service, rolls out a major free surgical registration and screening initiative for patients in need of specialized care. This effort underscores a shared national commitment to restoring dignity, correcting long‑standing medical conditions, and bringing world‑class surgical services directly to the people who need them most.

The registration process is completely free, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to hope or healing.
Surgical Conditions Eligible for Screening
Medical teams will evaluate individuals presenting with the following conditions:
- Maxillofacial & Ophthalmic — Facial tumors, cleft lip, cleft palate, post‑Noma complications, cataracts
- Orthopedic — Bowed legs, knocked knees
- General Surgery — Inguinal hernias, lipomas
- Women’s Health — Obstetric fistula
- Reconstructive — Burn contractures
Registration Schedule : Greater Accra Region
Residents are encouraged to report for screening on the designated dates.
Registration is held daily except weekends and Wednesdays.
- Location: Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge)
- Dates: May 18, 19, 21, 22, 25, and 26
Important: Registration does not guarantee surgery. All patients must undergo full medical evaluation and receive clearance from a Mercy Ships surgeon before being scheduled.
