The Volta Region’s commitment to strengthening secondary education took a decisive step forward on Monday, 16th February 2026, when a high‑level delegation visited the Keta Municipality to break ground for major infrastructure projects at Tsiame Senior High Technical School and Atiavi Senior High School.
The delegation was led by the Regional Minister, who was accompanied by the Member of Parliament for Keta, Kwame Dzudzorli Gakpey; the Municipal Chief Executive, Wisdom Bondzie Seade; former Keta MP, Dan Kwasi Abodakpi; officials of the Municipal Education Directorate; traditional authorities; opinion leaders; and enthusiastic community members who turned out to witness the beginning of a new chapter for their schools.
At Tsiame Senior High Technical School, the team performed the sod‑cutting for a comprehensive package of facilities designed to transform the school’s capacity and learning environment. The projects include a two‑storey dormitory block with a courtyard, a three‑storey 18‑unit classroom block, a modern dining hall with kitchen, four semi‑detached two‑bedroom staff bungalows, a three‑bedroom headmaster’s bungalow, and a 1.4‑kilometre perimeter fence wall with gates to enhance security. These interventions are expected to significantly improve accommodation, expand access to quality teaching spaces, and create a safer, more conducive environment for academic work.
The delegation then proceeded to Atiavi Senior High School, where sod was cut for the construction of a new dining hall equipped with a modern kitchen. This project aims to improve student welfare and streamline feeding arrangements, addressing long‑standing challenges faced by the school.
Speaking during the ceremonies, the Regional Minister reaffirmed that education remains a top priority for the Volta Region. He emphasized that investing in infrastructure is a direct investment in the future of young people, noting that the new facilities will reduce congestion, enhance academic delivery, and support both students and staff to perform at their best.
He expressed gratitude to the chiefs, school authorities, education officials, and the people of Keta for their warm reception and unwavering support. He added that the collaborative spirit demonstrated by all stakeholders reflects a shared commitment to building a stronger, more resilient Volta Region.
The day’s activities marked a significant milestone in the region’s broader agenda to expand educational access and improve learning outcomes, reinforcing the belief that strong schools build strong communities.
