President John Dramani Mahama has advanced his Reset Agenda with the inauguration of a five‑member committee tasked with implementing the GH¢1 billion Bawku Revitalisation Fund, a major national intervention aimed at rebuilding infrastructure, restoring public services, and accelerating development across Bawku and neighbouring districts.
The committee is chaired by Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson and includes Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central; His Royal Majesty Cletus Abugri, Chief of Tempane; Akamugri Donatus Atanga, Upper East Regional Minister; and Dr Thomas Winsum Anabah, Member of Parliament for Garu.
At the inauguration held at the Presidency on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, President Mahama announced that full funding for the revitalisation programme has been secured, enabling immediate rollout. He noted that the improved security situation in Bawku has created the stability required for reconstruction after years of conflict.
The President explained that the fund was established following the submission of the Otumfuo Mediation Committee report in December 2025, which renewed national commitment to peacebuilding and development in the area. He highlighted that the prolonged conflict had disrupted essential public services and stalled major development projects, including the Tamli Dam project.
With relative peace returning, President Mahama said government will revive all stalled projects, restore disrupted services, and ensure Bawku receives its fair share of national development. He emphasized that the revitalisation fund represents a strategic national obligation to rebuild a community whose development trajectory was severely affected by conflict.
