AFLAO — In a decisive move to bolster regional stability and foster inter-agency synergy, the Member of Parliament for Ketu South and former Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, conducted a high-level working visit to key security installations within her constituency on Tuesday.

The tour, framed by her parliamentary oversight responsibilities, served as a multi-purpose mission to address rising security concerns, explore employment pathways for local constituents, and offer formal gratitude to command headers for the peaceful atmosphere maintained during the recent Easter celebrations.
Hon. Gomashie’s first point of call was the Customs Division, where she held a closed-door session with the newly appointed Sector Commander, Emmanuel Duh. Welcoming him to the border enclave, the MP pledged her office’s full cooperation while delivering a poignant reminder on the nature of public service. She urged officers to remain steadfast in their professionalism and to adopt a “humane approach” when engaging with the public, ensuring that the law is upheld with dignity and respect. Commander Duh, in turn, reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining an open line of communication with the MP’s office to enhance service delivery at one of the nation’s most vital gateways.

Continuing her itinerary, the MP met with the leadership of the Ghana Immigration Service. Conversations with the Deputy Sector Commander centered on the unique challenges of border management and the necessity of heightened operational effectiveness in an era of emerging regional threats. This theme of vigilance carried over to her engagement with the National Security Liaison Officer, Mr. David Sedewodzi Toasta. In this meeting, the lawmaker emphasized that the safety of Ketu South rests on the pillars of intelligence sharing and seamless coordination between the various arms of the security apparatus.

The working visit concluded at the Aflao Sector Command of the Ghana Police Service, where the reality of local law enforcement challenges came to the fore. District Police Commander ASP Charles Anku briefed the MP on the uptick in criminal activity often associated with festive seasons. Citing a need for greater logistical fortitude, ASP Anku appealed for resources to match the evolving demands of the district.

Responding to these operational gaps, Hon. Gomashie assured the Police Command that their grievances would not fall on deaf ears. She committed to advocating for the necessary logistical support to empower officers in their mission to protect life and property. As the sun set on her tour, the MP reiterated that the peace and order of Ketu South remain her non-negotiable priorities, signaling a new chapter of proactive partnership between the legislature and those on the front lines of national security.
