Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno has promoted 35 police officers in recognition of their pivotal roles in the investigation and arrest of suspects linked to the high-profile Adabraka gold robbery. The promotions, announced on January 15, 2026, serve as an official commendation for the personnel who demonstrated exceptional professionalism, teamwork, and dedication during a series of complex operations. The case involves a brazen daylight heist at a jewellery shop in November 2024, an incident that saw over GH¢7.5 million stolen and caused widespread public concern.
The officers were honored for their efforts in tracking down key figures connected to the crime, including the recent apprehension of several suspects and the retrieval of a Toyota Highlander vehicle used as a getaway car. During the ceremony, the IGP, joined by members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), emphasized that these promotions are not merely rewards but a call to higher responsibility. He urged the newly elevated officers to maintain the highest standards of leadership and accountability as they continue their duties within the Ghana Police Service.
