Honoring the Legacy of Barima Yaw Minta: A Community United in Tribute

Chicago, IL – March 2, 2025: In a solemn and heartfelt gathering, the Bono and Ahafo Association of Chicago came together to honor the memory of the late Barima Yaw Minta, a staunch and beloved member of the Ghanaian community. The one-week celebration was led by the Association’s President, Mr. Benjamin Kodom-Ayensu, Nana Yaw Adu Gyamfi, Chief , and their Queen, Nana Abena Pokuaa. They rallied members of the Association and the wider community, who turned out in significant numbers to support the family and pay their respects.

Reverend Emmanuel Betson, Resident Pastor of the Church of the Ghanaian Community, invoked a heartfelt prayer, entrusting the event to the divine care of the Almighty Lord.

Dressed in all-black attire, attendees filled the atmosphere with a sense of solemnity and reverence, reflecting the deep respect and admiration they held for Barima Yaw Minta. Known for his active involvement in the community, Mr. Minta’s presence was felt even in his absence, as friends, family, and fellow community members gathered to celebrate his life and legacy.

Barima Yaw Minta leaves behind his devoted wife of 61 years , Mrs. Grace Minta and two children. As the community mourns his loss, they also celebrate the remarkable life he led and the indelible legacy he leaves behind. His contributions have enriched the lives of many, and his spirit will continue to inspire future generations.

The Ghanaian community in Chicago and beyond will forever remember Mr. Minta as a beacon of generosity, culture, and unwavering support. His legacy serves as a testament to the power of community, unity, and love.
