Chicago Illinois: Recently, members of the Ghanaian community came together to honor the life of Nana Poku Ansah, affectionately known as Nana Poku. After resettling in Ghana a few years ago, Nana Poku passed away, leaving a legacy that resonated deeply across continents.
Leaders and members of the Asanteman Association, including the Asantefuohene of Chicago, Nana Addai Baffour, the Asantefuohemaa, Ohemaa Abena Amponsah, the Asantefuohene-elect, Nana Kwame Frimpong, Asantefuohemaa-elect Ohemaa Afua Drowaah and their elders, gathered to pay tribute to their departed founding member .
Before relocating to Ghana, Nana Poku was a vital and dynamic presence in the Chicago community. His passing, announced across social media platforms, touched hearts from Ghana to Chicago.
A self-made man in the cab industry, Nana Poku was more than an entrepreneur—he was a beacon of guidance and inspiration for many immigrants navigating their new lives in Chicago. As one of the pioneering members of the Asanteman Association of Chicago and the Midwest, he was a steadfast pillar, offering counsel and support to those in need.
Nana Poku’s legacy will endure, reminding us all of the power of community and the impact of one life dedicated to helping others.
