Ketu South witnessed another milestone in grassroots economic empowerment as its Member of Parliament, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, presented NVTI certificates and professional tools to 42 newly certified artisans on 26th January 2026, a continuation of a skills, development journey she began more than a decade ago.
Long before entering Parliament, Hon. Gomashie served her community as Maama Dzramedo I, teaching practical skills across multiple modules to help residents, especially women, build sustainable livelihoods. That commitment has not wavered. As MP, she has expanded the initiative, ensuring that structured training and certification become a pathway to economic independence for her constituents.
In her latest training cycle, about 250 participants completed various vocational programmes. An overwhelming 99% were women, a trend she noted with curiosity but also pride, given the transformative impact women-led enterprises have on households and communities.
From the graduating cohort, trainers recommended 24 dressmakers, 10 hairdressers, 7 phone repairers, and 1 tailor for the prestigious National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) examinations. Hon. Gomashie personally covered the cost of their exams, clearing the financial barrier that often prevents talented artisans from obtaining formal certification.
The presentation ceremony was both emotional and empowering. After receiving their NVTI certificates, each beneficiary was surprised with start‑up tools tailored to their trade, sewing machines, hairdryers, and phone‑repair kits, a practical boost designed to help them launch or expand their businesses immediately.
Hon. Gomashie described the moment as a fulfillment of her long-standing mission to uplift her people through skills, dignity, and opportunity. She offered a heartfelt blessing to the graduates, saying, “May God bless the work of their hands.”
The MP’s Skills Development Project continues to stand as one of the most impactful community empowerment programmes in Ketu South, strengthening households, stimulating local enterprise, and building a constituency where economic independence is within reach for all.
