The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has directed the Ministry’s Technical Advisor, Dr. Korku Awoonor, to form a technical working group to conduct a comprehensive audit of all health facilities in the Oti Region. The directive, issued during a two-day management retreat, aims to assess the structural integrity, operational capacity, and overall productivity of the region’s healthcare centers to improve service delivery and patient safety.
This audit is part of a broader government strategy to enhance oversight of health infrastructure and ensure that public facilities adhere to national standards for quality and performance. In a related move to boost hygiene and patient experience, the Minister also mandated the implementation of 24-hour cleaning services in all public hospitals across the country.
This measure is designed to strengthen infection prevention and control while creating safer healthcare environments. Both initiatives reflect the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to raising healthcare standards through rigorous supervision and facility management.
