The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has praised the humanitarian organization Operation Walk for significantly easing the financial burden on patients requiring orthopedic surgery. During a visit to the St. Joseph Hospital in Koforidua, the Minister observed the initiative providing care to Ghanaians who previously faced surgery costs of up to GH₵70,000, describing the intervention as both lifesaving and economically transformative.

Minister Akandoh indicated that the government is actively planning further collaboration with Operation Walk to expand these services to northern, central, and other underserved regions, pledging to strengthen the partnership to ensure the missionary services reach all parts of the country. He also urged individuals and organizations intending to donate medical equipment to work directly with the Ministry for transparent and proper distribution, emphasizing that these partnerships are precisely what Ghana needs to restore dignity to patients.

In response, Kimberly Murray, the Director of Operation Walk, expressed gratitude for the Ministry’s support and commended the dedication of the Ghanaian medical team. She noted that the commitment of the local doctors and nurses inspires the visiting team, highlighting that their joint effort is not only transforming individual lives but also strengthening Ghana’s surgical capacity for the future.
