BALTIMORE, Md. – In an effort to tackle global health disparities and elevate healthcare delivery across Africa and its diaspora, the African-Diaspora Nursing Alliance (A-DNA) will host its 2026 U.S. Global Conference on August 21 to 22 at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing.
Themed “Voices of Change: Translating Innovation into Action for Global Health,” the two-day summit brings together healthcare professionals, researchers, educators, and policymakers to bridge healthcare gaps and spark actionable solutions worldwide. Discussions and workshops will center on critical topics shaping modern medicine, including AI integration, emergency care, advanced practice nursing, health equity, hypertension, and transitional care.
“This conference anchors a broader mission to turn professional collaboration into immediate community action,” according to event organizers.
Grassroots Care in Action
While global health leaders convene at Johns Hopkins, local outreach efforts will unfold simultaneously in Prince George’s County. On Saturday, August 22, A-DNA and the Ghanaian-Diaspora Nursing Alliance (G-DNA), in collaboration with Redeemers Church of Christ, will host a Community Health Fair in Lanham, Maryland.
From 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. EST, volunteer medical teams will provide essential service’s , including blood pressure, blood glucose, and lipid screenings, alongside mobile health clinics and patient education, directly targeting unserved and underserved residents.
Strategic Impact and Historic Milestones
The weekend will cap off with a Fundraising Reception on August 22 at the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing. Proceeds from the event are slated to drive long-term systemic healthcare upgrades across West Africa, including:
- Pioneering Accreditation: Supporting the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in its bid to become the first hospital in Africa to earn the ANCC Pathway to Excellence designation.
- Expanding Free Care: Funding the 2027 G-DNA Community Health Fair in Ghana’s Northern Region to deliver screenings and vital medical supplies to remote populations.
- Investing in Workforce: Providing scholarships for Ghanaian nurses and midwives to attend the 2027 annual conference, alongside leadership grants via the 2027 Advanced Education Fund.
