Sankofaonline News Desk : January 27, 2026.
February marks American Heart Month, a national call to action to prioritize cardiovascular health and confront the leading cause of death in the United States. This year, the message carries even greater resonance as the Ghanaian Community Health Clinic (GCHC), fresh from its annual January break, reopens its doors with renewed purpose and a powerful commitment to community wellness.

The clinic’s first major public engagement of the year will take place on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, at 4332 N. Kedzie Avenue, Chicago, IL 60618. The timing is intentional. On a day traditionally devoted to expressions of love, the clinic is inviting the community to honor the most vital symbol of love, the human heart.
The GCHC, in partnership with the Ghana National Council, GNC, has long served as a trusted anchor for African immigrants and underserved populations across the Greater Chicago area. Its reopening and Valentine’s Day outreach reflect a deep understanding of the barriers many face in accessing preventive care, especially for conditions linked to cardiovascular disease.
Attendees will receive a wide range of free medical services, including Family Medicine, Pediatrics, Women’s Health, Endocrinology, Urology, Ophthalmology, and Respiratory Care for asthma, COPD, and bronchitis. No insurance is required, and no appointment is needed. The clinic’s volunteer physicians, nurses, specialists and others will be on hand to provide screenings, consultations, and health education designed to empower individuals to take control of their well-being.
Cardiovascular disease remains the leading cause of death in the United States, disproportionately affecting communities of color. High blood pressure, diabetes, and limited access to preventive care continue to place African and immigrant populations at elevated risk. By reopening with a public health mission centered on heart health, the clinic is sending a clear message: prevention saves lives, and access matters.

As the clinic reopens its doors for 2026, it invites everyone to take a meaningful step toward a healthier future. Love is powerful, but a healthy heart ensures it endures.
