The Ghanaian Community Health Clinic has released its May 2026 health bulletin, marking a month of nationwide observances dedicated to mental health, women’s wellness, and arthritis awareness. The clinic, known for its culturally attuned and community-centered care, is using this month to amplify education, prevention, and early intervention across these critical areas of health.

Mental Health Awareness Month, a national observance each May, underscores the importance of emotional, psychological, and social well-being. Mental health influences how individuals think, feel, act, manage stress, and make decisions. Common concerns such as anxiety, depression, burnout, and stress-related disorders continue to affect communities at rising rates.
The clinic encourages residents to seek support early, stay physically active, practice mindfulness or prayer, maintain healthy sleep habits, and speak with trusted providers or loved ones. The message is clear: no one has to navigate mental health challenges alone.

Women’s Health Month also takes center stage, emphasizing prevention, education, and empowerment. The clinic is urging women to prioritize routine check-ups, breast health awareness, cervical cancer screenings, heart health monitoring, and reproductive and maternal wellness.
Women are encouraged to schedule annual exams, stay current on screenings, manage stress, maintain balanced nutrition, and understand their family health history. The clinic notes that when women prioritize their health, families and communities thrive.

Arthritis Awareness Month rounds out the trio of May observances. Affecting millions nationwide, arthritis remains one of the leading causes of joint pain and disability. Symptoms such as stiffness, swelling, and reduced mobility can significantly impact daily life. The clinic recommends low-impact physical activity, weight management, prescribed medications, heat or cold therapy, and personalized care plans developed with healthcare providers. Early management, they stress, can greatly improve long-term quality of life.

Mother’s Day Special Edition Clinic – May 9, 2026

As part of its ongoing commitment to accessible care, the Ghanaian Community Health Clinic will host its next in-person clinic on Saturday, May 9, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at its N. Kedzie Avenue location, 4332 N. Kedzie Ave, Chicago, Illinois.
This month’s clinic will feature a special Mother’s Day celebration. Every mother in attendance will receive a complimentary gift in recognition of her role, resilience, and contribution to family and community life.

In addition to monthly in-person clinics, the facility continues to offer telehealth services seven days a week, ensuring that community members can access care whenever they need it.

A Continued Commitment to Community Health

The Ghanaian Community Health Clinic reaffirms its mission to provide accessible, patient-centered care while addressing health disparities that disproportionately affect minority communities. Its focus remains on preventive health, education, and supporting both physical and mental well-being.

Community members are encouraged to stay proactive this month by scheduling check-ups, staying informed, and taking small, consistent steps toward better health.
