In a landmark move to ease the financial burden on aspiring healthcare professionals, Ghana’s Ministry of Health has announced a 50% reduction in school fees for Nursing and Allied Health Training students, effective from the 2025/2026 academic year. The initiative is part of the government’s newly launched “No-Fee-Stress” Policy, aimed at expanding access to tertiary education nationwide.

Under this policy, the government will absorb half of the approved fees for all first-year students enrolled in accredited Nursing and Allied Health Training Institutions. The Ministry emphasized that all institutions must strictly adhere to the fee structure and itemized costs communicated by the Ministry. No institution is permitted to charge beyond the approved amounts or demand payment for items covered under the policy.

This financial relief fulfills a key promise made by President John Dramani Mahama to support students and families committed to academic and professional advancement. The Ministry has issued a firm directive to Principals of Health Training Institutions to comply fully, warning that any deviation or imposition of unauthorized fees will be met with serious consequences.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to promoting equitable access to health education and safeguarding the welfare of students. Heads of institutions have been instructed to begin preparations for the upcoming admissions cycle, ensuring that the new policy is implemented seamlessly.

The announcement was signed by Tony Goodman, Deputy Director and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Health.
