Ghana’s Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has signed a US$12.83 million grant agreement with the African Development Bank (ADB) to finance comprehensive feasibility studies for several high-priority infrastructure and agricultural initiatives under the “Big Push” development programme.
The agreement, finalized today with ADB Country Manager Eyerusalem Fasika, marks a significant step toward the commencement of major construction works across the country.
The funding is specifically earmarked for the preparation of a proposed interchange at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra, the redevelopment of the Agbogbloshie, Techiman, Sekondi, and Mankessim markets, and the establishment of Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones in the Afram Plains, Nsawam, and Builsa.
These grants will cover the costs of detailed engineering designs, financial costings, and essential environmental and social impact assessments to ensure each project is ready for immediate execution.
Dr. Forson expressed gratitude to the ADB for its continued partnership, noting that the government’s primary objective is to complete these preparatory studies rapidly to allow construction to begin in the shortest possible timeframe.
