Ghana’s Parliament is scheduled to adjourn sine die (indefinitely) on Friday, December 19, 2025, marking the conclusion of the current meeting. This announcement was made by the Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, who serves concurrently as the Chairman of the Business Committee, while presenting the Business Statement for the ninth week. The adjournment signifies the end of a critical session of parliamentary work.
In preparation for the recess, Mr. Ayariga urged the Chairpersons of all Committees to treat outstanding referrals with urgency and report on them expeditiously before the House rises. He also took the opportunity to commend the Speaker, Deputy Speakers, and all Members for their sacrifice and devotion to the business of the House throughout the Meeting, expressing hope for a smooth discharge of the proposed business for the final week.
A key component of the concluding week’s proceedings will be the rigorous scrutiny of the Executive branch. Eight Ministers have been programmed to appear before the House to answer a substantial total of 41 questions from Members of Parliament.
The Ministers scheduled to face questioning include the Minister for Food and Agriculture, the Minister for Roads and Highways, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, and the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, among others, ensuring accountability before the adjournment.
