The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has received a GHS 2 million donation from the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) to help improve healthcare services and combat the growing issue of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in the country.

During the donation presentation, Mr. Richard Nunekpeku, GoldBod’s Deputy CEO, praised President John Dramani Mahama’s vision and expressed confidence that the Fund’s leadership would use the money effectively. He also encouraged other corporations and state institutions to support the Ghana Medical Trust Fund in its efforts to address critical healthcare challenges.

Obuobia Darko-Opoku, Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, accepted the donation and highlighted the urgent need for medical infrastructure. A recent nationwide assessment had revealed significant shortages of essential equipment in major health facilities, and she reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to closing these gaps.

The Ghana Medical Trust Fund thanked the GoldBod’s CEO, Mr. Samuel Gyamfi, Deputy CEO, Mr. Richard Nunekpeku, and their entire team for the generous support.

The Fund stated that the donation is not just a financial contribution but a testament to GoldBod’s commitment to the nation’s health and future, demonstrating visionary leadership and a true sense of national duty. The funds are expected to assist many people, provide relief to vulnerable patients, and create a lasting impact on Ghana’s healthcare system.
