The Ghana Medical Trust Fund has presented a cheque of GH₵447,000 to the Cardiothoracic Centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to fund life-saving surgeries for three young children suffering from congenital heart conditions.

The beneficiaries, aged 15 months, 20 months, and four years, are all diagnosed with various heart defects, commonly referred to as holes in the heart.

The donation was officially presented by the Administrator of the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, Obuobia Darko-Opoku, as part of a series of interventions aimed at providing immediate relief to vulnerable patients while refining the Fund’s operational framework.

The financial support was received by the Chief Executive Officer of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Yakubu Seidu Adam, alongside his senior management team, who expressed significant appreciation for the timely intervention.

This contribution represents the third major disbursement of the day and forms a critical component of the Fund’s current pilot phase, which involves 50 targeted cases ahead of a full national rollout.

According to the Fund’s leadership, these pilot cases are essential for testing administrative efficiency to ensure that, upon the official launch, medical assistance can be delivered to patients across the country in a swift, seamless, and dignified manner.
