President John Dramani Mahama has declared three days of national mourning in honour of the late First Lady, Her Excellency Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, whose passing marks a solemn moment in Ghana’s national life. The mourning period, which begins today, Friday 24 October and continues through Sunday 26 October 2025, is a tribute to her enduring legacy and distinguished service to the Republic.
As part of the official observance, all national flags will be flown at half-mast across public buildings, diplomatic missions, and government installations both within Ghana and abroad. This gesture reflects the nation’s collective grief and respect for a woman whose contributions to public service, particularly in the areas of women’s empowerment, child welfare, and social development, left an indelible mark on Ghana’s history.
Mrs. Agyeman-Rawlings, known for her unwavering dedication and commitment to national progress, served the country with distinction during her tenure as First Lady. Her advocacy for the vulnerable and her leadership in championing social causes earned her admiration across generations.
The Government of Ghana, through the Office of the President, has extended heartfelt condolences to her family, her children, and all who mourn this profound loss. In a statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Member of Parliament and Spokesperson to the President, the administration expressed its deep sorrow and reverence for the late First Lady’s memory.
May her soul rest in perfect peace.
