
Teshie – The Army Training Command (ATRAC) concluded the 5th batch of its 10-week intensive Battalion Commanders’ Course on Friday, December 12, 2025, with a closing ceremony held at Buchanan Hall, Whistler Barracks, Teshie. The program was specifically designed to enhance the leadership, operational, and administrative competencies of senior officers required to command battalion-level units across various formations of the Ghana Armed Forces.
Representing the Chief of the Army Staff, the General Officer Commanding Southern Command, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Isaac Nicholas Paintsil, stated that the course is a key part of the Army’s professional development strategy. Its goal is to broaden participants’ horizons and prepare them to confidently lead the Army into the future, focusing on command capabilities, improving decision-making, and strengthening understanding of modern warfare and emerging security challenges.
Brig Gen Paintsil emphasized the military high command’s expectation that the skills acquired will serve as a guiding “compass” to competently navigate complex and evolving security challenges facing the country. He encouraged the graduates to demonstrate exemplary, adaptable, and forward-thinking leadership, noting that their conduct directly impacts the performance and reputation of the units they will command.
During the ceremony, awards were presented to distinguished participants. Lieutenant Colonel Patrick Peprah Obuobi was named the overall best student. Lieutenant Colonel Enock Rafiq Awudu secured the second position, and Lieutenant Colonel Harry Joe Bawoke took the third place.
