The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) officially commenced the documentation and body selection phase of its 2025 enlistment process on Monday, December 29, 2025, at designated screening centres in Accra and Kumasi.
The exercise, which is scheduled to last for two days, aims to process thousands of applicants seeking to join various branches of the military. At the Air Force Base Accra and Nicholson Sports Stadium in Burma Camp, a total of 1,967 potential Army cadets and 1,107 prospective Air Force and Naval cadets were scheduled to report for their initial evaluations.
According to official data, a total of 3,729 individuals applied for enlistment into the Ghana Armed Forces this year.
A breakdown of the applications shows that the Army remains the most sought-after branch with 2,421 applicants, followed by 736 for the Ghana Air Force and 572 for the Navy. The current phase is critical for verifying the qualifications and physical suitability of the candidates before they progress further in the recruitment cycle.
The Director General of Human Resources, Commodore Francis Ayitevi Nyarko, oversaw the start of the proceedings and advised all applicants to strictly adhere to the established rules and regulations. He emphasized that the structured approach is designed to ensure a seamless and transparent exercise for all qualified participants.
The screening centres are expected to remain busy throughout the 48-hour period as officials work to clear the high volume of candidates.
