The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, and the Police Management Board hosted the President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Mr. Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, at the National Police Headquarters in Accra on Thursday, February 19, 2026. The high-level meeting was convened to bolster the partnership between the law enforcement agency and the nation’s football governing body to improve security and foster the growth of the sport across the country.
Central to the discussions were strategies to uphold ethical standards within the game and combat the rising threats of match manipulation and illegal betting. Both leadership teams reaffirmed their dedication to protecting the integrity of the Ghana Premier League and other domestic competitions.
This commitment will be backed by intensified cooperation, including proactive intelligence sharing and rigorous investigations designed to prevent any activities that could undermine the sport’s credibility.
Beyond security concerns, the two institutions explored a collaborative vision for infrastructure development, specifically the construction of a modern sporting facility for the Ghana Police Service.
Both Mr. Yohuno and Mr. Simeon-Okraku expressed their mutual readiness to implement these initiatives promptly, signaling a new era of cooperation between the police and the football community.
